Overview
Through this final project, and supported by the experiences of students who are in the situation of deciding the path after graduating from high school, E-Ducate was created to resolve the confusion of determining a college major that suits their passions, habits, and talents.
Problem
It turns out that many high school students have not yet decided on the continuation of their education after graduating. They choose to follow their friends, without knowing what they will learn during college in the major they choose. Coupled with the increasing competition, terms, and conditions to enter university, they do not hesitate to choose their majors carelessly.
Goals
Users will get recommendations for majors, which match their interests and talents by answering a few questions. Users can use the free plan membership with limited access, but can upgrade it with other membership options at affordable prices. Membership will provide users with major classes, one on one mentoring, and live webinars.
Research
From qualitative research, we conducted insightful survey from 8 individuals using Google Form and interviews with 2 individuals using Google Meet as the platform for virtual engagement. This phase allowed for deep exploration of participants’ perfectives, experiences, and insights, generating rich qualitative data.
QUESTION :
Are you currently using an e-learning application?
What type of learning content do you like most about e-learning?
Is the e-learning you use so far enough to help your learning process?
What learning content do you not find in the e-learning you are currently using?
Do you have any concerns or confusion about deciding on a college major?
What kind of learning can give you information about college majors?
Do you need one on one mentoring or online socialization regarding your major?
ANSWER :
While using e-learning, using videos and reading material is very helpful for students.
So far, e-learning that is commonly used does not help students to know college majors and can only be accessed by the internet.
E-learning that is usually used does not help students to know college majors
They hope that e-learning will have video lessons on all majors to be considered.
Mentors or people who have studied in that major will be very helpful if there is socialization for students, so there is a perspective on what major to choose.
Students think one on one mentoring makes them more free to ask questions about college majors.
How Might We
We started to generate ideas to solve our design problem. We using our POV by asking a specific question starting with : “How Might We” that have the potential to spark ideation sessions such as brainstorms.
User Persona
Naura is one of the personas that will represent users who have problems about continuing their education after graduating from high school. Naura has decided to go to college, but still has not chosen which major to take for college.
User Journey Map
We made a visual representation of the users journey across all touchpoints of our application to understand where we can improve the user experience.
UI Design
We created all the visual aspects of the E-Ducate interface. We designed it hierarchical and functional to guide users in using the product easily and intuitively. It is expected to reflect the brand identity, fulfill the functional needs of the product, and provide a consistent experience to the user.
Usability Testing Plan
After the visual design was complete, I tested the prototype with 5 representative users to see how user friendly the application is. Testing is conducted using Maze, where participants will complete several missions to run the prototype. After each mission is completed, participants can leave feedback according to the questions I have created.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Key Usability Tasks (to test) :
On boarding and register/login session
Purchasing membership
Major screening
Access to classes, mentoring, and webinars until certified
Research Objective :
To gather users feedback when accessing according to the flow
To identify pain points of each feature
To navigate whether users can proceed through the whole flow with ease
To evaluate the appearance of the feature whether it is comfortable to use
