Tokoku Mobile App Design
Tokoku is an application designed to facilitate transactions between store owners and salesmen. The app helps in managing product orders, monitoring any gift redemptions, as well as facilitating communication and sales reporting.
Client:
PT. Berca Kawan Sejati
Year:
2024
Role:
UI/UX Designer
Overview
This project is the first app design project, where PT Berca Kawan Sejati wants to create an application which will be used by store owner. The description is that store owner can order products through Tokoku, the order will go to the salesman application, the salesman will bring the product according to the order.
Problem
As for the problems found in the real world, so far the shop owners only depend on the products brought by sales. This means that not all items carried by salesmen are ordered by shop owners. Then there is a concern if there are inaccuracies in the actual price with the price offered by the salesman.
Goals
Finding problems that can be considered to be given a design solution
Create a paltform design according to user needs
Creating features with user flow that is easy to use and understand
Provide design solutions that can help user problems
Ideate
There are a variety of ideas and potential solutions to address user needs and the challenges that have been identified.
How Might We
Through the ideas given in the previous stage, this stage is to determine which design solution will be implemented later. There are 3 How Might We that are the main focus of this project to be completed.
User Persona
Persona is a fictitious representation of an ideal user based on real data. This persona includes the demographics, problems, needs, and goals faced by the user. By using personas, design teams can better understand user perspectives and needs, thereby creating more relevant and effective solutions. User personas help keep the focus on the user experience throughout the product or service development process.
User Journey Map
The following is a user journey map, which visualizes the flow of user interaction with the product service from start to finish. Mapping the user journey along with the feelings and experiences at each stage. User journey maps help teams understand the user experience thoroughly and design solutions that are better and more responsive to their needs.
UI Design
This is the implementation stage of the given design solution, which will fulfil the user's needs.
Usability Testing
To validate the design of the solution provided, usability testing was conducted. There are 7 tasks that will be done by the user to be able to explore all features based on the user journey map. General questions will be asked about the experience, problems, suggestions, and criticisms felt by users. Ask the level of usefulness, ease and satisfaction of the user every time they complete the flow of tasks that have been done. Two usability testing sessions were conducted with different amount of users.
To support this usability testing, the System Usability Scale (SUS) methodology process is added. System Usability Scale is a measurement tool that can be used to measure the usability level of a system consisting of 10 questions. Formed by John Brooke in 1986, the system usability scale can be used to measure the level of usability of various products such as hardware, software, mobile apps, and websites.
The System Usability Scale uses a Likert scale of one to five, which are 1 strongly disagree, 2 disagree, 3 neutral, 4 agree, and 5 strongly agree. With the following calculation:
- For each of the odd numbered questions, subtract 1 from the score.
- For each of the even numbered questions, subtract their value from 5.
- Take these new values which you have found, and add up the total score. Then multiply this by 2.5.
The average System Usability Scale score is 68. If the score is under 68, then there are probably serious problems with the app usability which should be addressed.
Usability Testing 1
There were 2 users who participated in usability testing 1. The problems found that can be improved are related to the use of color on the button, flow when ordering products, and font size.
The following are the results of the usability scale:
Ilham > 65
Putri > 67.5
From the results of the usability scale system in usability testing 1, which is 66.25 with the Poor category. It is imperative for the design of this application to be fixed, and improved through suggestions and criticisms from users.
Usability Testing 2
After going through some improvements, the results of testing 2 with 3 participants and using the system usability scale, the results were quite satisfied.
Afrina > 82.5
Irfan 72.5
Ericha 82.5
The average calculation of the 3 participants is 79.1 with the Good category.
